Introducing Geoff Marion & Kerry Schilke

Studio 42 Jewellers Gallery would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest exhibitors, Geoff Marion and Kerry Schilke from Definitive Design.

With a combined experience of over 50 years, Geoff & Kerry are experts in their craft as evidenced by their Artist Bio photo above, one of their standout pieces that exhibits the high quality finish and attention to detail that Geoff & Kerry have become renowned for.

Starting as an opal and gem cutter in 1986, Geoff has worked in every facet of the jewellery industry, including working as a pattern maker for a major national manufacturer.

Kerry has served her apprenticeship at some of Melbourne's top jewellery houses, winning many of Australia's top design awards along the way.

  • Best 1st year apprentice
  • Best 2nd year apprentice
  • Best 3rd year apprentice
  • J.A.A. National Design Awards best 2nd year apprentice
  • J.A.A. National Design Awards best apprentice overall
  • J.A.A. National Design Awards apprentice design and craftsmanship award
  • J.A.A. National Design Awards gold design finalist
  • De Beers Diamond Facets Awards finalist
  • G.I.A. Australian Gemstone Design Awards finalist
  • World Skills Australia gold medalist

Their collection features some stunning rings with icy blue aquamarines, very interesting coloured tourmalines and the ever popular, apricot coloured morganite. Check out the half and half mixed metal design on two of their rings. 9ct rose gold on one side and sterling silver on the other meeting seamlessly in the middle.

The earring collection is cleverly manufactured to ensure that each component of the earring drop swings in a separate direction from the other for an intriguing, eye catching effect. Featuring stones such as golden rutilated quartz, lava stone, white quartz and quartz with black tourmaline inclusions. Three different lengths available and priced from $200, we don't think these will last long at all.

More work will be arriving from Geoff and Kerry soon including the super rare, Winza bi-coloured sapphire rings. Winza sapphire is known to only come from one small 28 hectare area discovered in 2007. Gem quality material is no longer being produced and even at the height of its production, stones of a quality high enough to be faceted were only being found in volumes of around 1 cup a year!

Each stone is single source, locally mined, unheated and unique due to it's patterning caused by colour distribution. If owning a gemstone that only a handful of others in the world can obtain sounds like your thing then you will want to keep an eye out for when these rings land.

In the meantime, you can check out Geoff and Kerry's current collection here.
