Australian Sapphire: 1.14ct Blue Emerald Cut Sapphire
Sapphire is a very hard and durable precious gemstone with a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale making it an excellent stone for jewellery intended to be worn daily. With coloured stones becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to diamonds in engagement rings it is no surprise to see the Australian Sapphire enjoying a new found popularity with our clients. Large, high quality Sapphires whilst not the cheapest option for a coloured stone are decidedly more cost effective than a diamond of similar size. And hey, if a Sapphire engagement ring is good enough for Princess Kate, it's certainly good enough to go on our wish list.
Sapphire has been mined from Australia for over 100 years but it's history stretches back even further to 150 years ago when the first reports of Sapphires were found during the process of gold mining. Sapphire is available in a rainbow of colours from blue, green, pink, yellow, peach, orange, vibrant stones, bi-colour, colour change to pastel tones, you name it, there is a Sapphire for every taste.
