William Russell Sterling Silver Coin Ring With 1938 Half Penny

A new collection from William. Australian coins used as an inlay in these unisex ring designs. This ring features a 1938 half penny.

From Cairns, QLD, William Russell started in the jewellery industry with an apprenticeship in 1976.

His main work has been with designs derived from the Cook Islands culture. Natural, cultured and mabe pearls are often used in the pieces made. These pieces often have a floral motif, reflecting the Cook Islanders love of nature. This does not stop him from exploring as many styles and metals as possible within the jewellery he makes.

"Over the past 40+ years I have made pieces in every style I saw or could imagine. Using all precious metals, some base metals and some reactive metals, sometimes oxidising, texturing, engraving, hammering, pressing, waxing, piercing, doming, fusing, soldering, casting, laminating and any other technique I can find. Some pieces have been made from organic materials such as bone, shells, coral and timbers. Setting styles including pave, claw set, bezel set and gypsy set."
